[BUG] Last 2 latest releases have glitchy graphics. #446

Current Behavior
On specifically the arch-kde image and it has been extremely glitchy with the graphics/video stream. Basically when anything on the virtual screen moves or changes it will update only part of the visual. If I click and drag a window around parts of the window stay behind and the parts that do move do so in a jerky way. Typing anything is basically impossible because the text doesn't appear sometimes or sometimes even later. I just redownloaded the arch-kde-2025-07-12-ls265 image and that one works as expected.

Steps To Reproduce
Try any of the images released after arch-kde-2025-07-12-ls265, maybe it only effects arch-kde.

Arch recently updated to kwin 6.8, try a clean home directory as a first measure. Also understand that you are running a GPU native Desktop environment without one. You need some cpu horsepower to drive this as it will leverage llvmpipe for simple things.
The basic summary is arch-kde kind of requires a GPU now that they have bumped to kwin 6.8 this is out of my control.

Oh, it's likely the lack of the GPU then. I ran a test container without a mounted /config volume so it would be completely new generated and it was still glitchy. Guess I'll need to figure out how to get a GPU or maybe use a different desktop environment. Thanks for your help!

You can use a non head distro as well these issues revolve around Kwin 6.8 that not only dropped x11 support but also qpainter software mode.

@silmarine arch bumped to kwin 6.8.1 in my testing this makes a huge difference please pull and retest without a GPU.

Oh, thank you @thelamer I didn't expect you to put more time into this. I just pulled it but it didn't seem different for me, maybe slightly less glitchy but hard to tell. The VM it's running on has very little resources so maybe that is why. It worked for the previous builds so I thought it was enough. I'm considering switching to arch-xfce. i also have an old GPU that I'm using for something else but might move to this VM to use for these selkies containers.
