FFmpeg source used by MotionCam

MotionCam for Android and iOS uses unmodified FFmpeg 9.0.1 under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. The MotionCam builds do not enable FFmpeg's GPL, version 3, or nonfree configuration options.

This repository provides the complete corresponding FFmpeg source archive, its upstream signature, the license text, checksums, and the build scripts used for MotionCam's Android and iOS FFmpeg libraries.

Rebuilding

The scripts build FFmpeg as separate shared libraries for the same targets used by MotionCam. Android produces .so libraries and iOS produces embedded .framework bundles. They explicitly verify that GPL, version 3, and nonfree licensing modes remain disabled.

For Android, install the Android SDK/NDK and set ANDROID_NDK_HOME:

ANDROID_NDK_HOME=/path/to/android-ndk ./build-android.sh

For iOS, run the build on macOS with Xcode installed:

./build-ios.sh

Build products are written below .build/ and are not committed.

Linking in MotionCam

MotionCam links to these FFmpeg libraries dynamically and includes them as separate files in the distributed application package. MotionCam does not statically combine FFmpeg with its application or native-library objects. Consequently, this repository does not publish any MotionCam object files.

An interface-compatible FFmpeg build produced by these scripts can replace the corresponding packaged FFmpeg shared libraries. Mobile application packages must be signed again after any such replacement.
