Player and Broadcast reject new Player({ origin: producer.consume() }) because playback inputs require publishing methods from Origin.Table.
Approach
Derive the structural read side from Origin.Consumer's closed, discovery, request, follow, and announced capabilities. Share the input with Player and use it throughout Broadcast's reference handling.
Cover borrowed tables, consumers, and structural origins; exercise cross-broadcast resolution with a consumer. Delete the completed quest and its links (the epic's Required entry and the Related entry in /quest/m1/api-audit/route/handle.md). The epic /quest/m1/api-audit/resolve/README.md keeps its two newer children (js-following, follow-options) from moq-dev/moq#7420, so it stays unsized.
Impact
Public API: widens @moq/watch origin inputs to read-side consumers and structural equivalents while retaining tables, signals, and absent origins. The exposed wired inputs now carry the same read-side capabilities; no migration is needed for supplying origins.
Wire: none.
Validation
Reproduced TS2322 for both constructors before the change; the same example compiles afterward.
Compiled a consumer against 13 emitted packages with skipLibCheck: false, confirming accepted origin roles, signals, absent origins, and rejection of missing capabilities and publishing access. Verified resolution uses emitted declarations.
Player/Broadcast tests: 41 passed. The selected CI run passed all 419 watch tests and the selected JS checks/builds/tests.
env BASH_ENV=/dev/null quest gate just ci: passed. The initial run hit the unchanged mbx Cargo spawn failure caused by inherited shell-hook PATH expansion; disabling that hook preserves the pinned Nix tools, mbx, and every check. The isolated lint fixture also passes.
Review
Codex quest review (gpt-6.1-sol, medium effort), round 1 on 2a8e03b7f5045c96cbf534181c1d32ef4e90c93b (origin/main 802cadc3cc merged with a hand-resolved quest conflict): no findings.
Merge resolution (2a8e03b7f5): main's moq-dev/moq#7257 finished internal-constructors.md, turning its Related entry in route/handle.md into plain text, while this PR deleted the watch-origin entry beside it. The resolution keeps main's plain-text entry and drops this quest's link. quest check --base origin/main passes; quest gate just ci origin/main in nix develop passed (check/test js, markdown, gh, quest, shell).
Earlier: Codex round 1 on 6bf4eddfcc (prior merge, which resolvedmoq-dev/moq#7420's resolve-epic children and dropped this PR's [M] epic size): no findings. Codex round 1 on 78ff1cb39b: no findings. Claude Code /code-review (claude-opus-5-5, medium) round 1 on f0d87065b5; its one accepted finding (the Origin.Table doc) was fixed in 65753a99b5, and the rest were refuted with evidence recorded in that round.
Alternatives
Reused existing Origin role signatures instead of adding an exported origin interface, adapter, or second player. Selected the five settled read capabilities explicitly to keep publishing and lifecycle authority out of playback inputs.
Follow-ups
Consider a named read-side origin interface in @moq/net (Origin.Reader, extended by Table), so @moq/watch and future readers import one name instead of a Pick list.

Merge resolutions and review updates (Written by Claude Opus 5.5)
BroadcastInput.origin now accepts selected read-side Consumer members, and PlayerInput.origin uses the same type. Broadcast’s internal origin parameters and maps use this type. Tests cover table, consumer, and structurally compatible origins, including player close behavior. API reference ordering changed without changing the attribute-name set. The API audit entries for the origin change were removed.

No actionable findings. Deriving the read-side shape from Origin.Consumer and sharing it through BroadcastInput["origin"] is a focused solution without an adapter or duplicate player API. The inspected playback and cross-broadcast paths use those read capabilities, retain method receivers, and close their requests/watches rather than the borrowed origin. Existing Origin.Table signatures satisfy the selected capabilities; Pick does not carry Consumer's private state into the input type.
The added role test checks table, consumer, and structural inputs plus borrowed lifetime behavior, while the Broadcast helper now exercises consumer-backed reference resolution. The API snapshots consistently reflect the narrowed read capabilities of exposed inputs.
Verification: static GitHub inspection of the full diff, Player/Broadcast wiring and cleanup, origin role signatures, and test helpers. No builds, tests, or emitted-declaration compilation were run; the author's reported validation was not independently reproduced.
Merge summary: CI green on e0b6895 (12/12), Codex 👍 with no findings, and the automated review on the same head reported no actionable findings. No unresolved threads. quest check --base origin/main passes; the PR deletes the finished watch-origin quest and its link. No changes made during merge; no follow-ups. Landing via the merge queue (squash).
Merge summary: merged main into the branch (hand-resolved conflict in js/watch/src/broadcast.ts: kept this PR's read-side Origin parameter on watchCovered together with main's new covering: true option, which Origin.Consumer.announced supports). Ran just js check-changed and test-changed on the PR's files (watch: 433 pass) and passed quest check --base origin/main.
A local Claude /code-review round on the merged head led to one doc fix: Origin.Table now points read-only borrowers at the Consumer members they need (65753a9). The PR body's ## Review section lists the other findings and why each was refuted. Follow-up suggested: a named read-side origin interface in @moq/net. Queuing 65753a9 for quest land.
Requeued at the same head. The host land gate's first batch ejected this PR for two reasons unrelated to it: check gh failing on main (Pullfrog, fixed in #7428) and #7029's pyright error. The fixer then failed to start because of a socket permission bug, now fixed, which is why it was handed back.
codex / Codex land fixer: Requeued unchanged: healthy; batch flaky test [at]moq/interop-browser: the native picture decodes as the frame ffmpeg numbered it timed out after 5000ms; unchanged native tests pass locally

Assert that the borrowed consumer stays open after player.close().
The test checks that the producer and publication remain open after player.close(), but it never checks the borrowed consumer. A regression that closes only the borrowed Consumer would leave both checked values open and still pass. The PR states that playback inputs gain no lifecycle authority, so the test should check that contract directly.

Review comment at @js/watch/src/player.test.ts around lines 19 - 53:
Update the “Player borrows a %s origin” test to assert that
`consumer.closed.peek()` remains undefined after `player.close()`, alongside the
existing producer and publication checks.

Resolve conflicts with the rendition-internal split, the shared @moq/ui stat cards, and the
decoder's cancelled-output guard. Main narrowed Player's origin to a read-side view (#7251), so the
feedback reporter moves from Player to the <moq-watch> element, which owns the writable connection
origin.
