• ♟ (U+265F) is an emoji codepoint; phones drew it as a black emoji regardless of CSS color, so White's pawn didn't match its king. Every glyph now carries U+FE0E (text presentation). Pinned in rules.test.ts.
• White pieces get a real stroke instead of a blur shadow, so they read on light squares.
