Dotfiles and Shell Setup Not Happening #3

Closed

Description

@david-hosier

I did an install of a custom configuration this morning that has dotfiles configured as well as optional shell commands. Openboot is ONLY running the package install parts. At the end of the install the script says "Dotfiles and shell setup will be handled by the install script." and then ends without doing any of that. Am I missing something in my setup? I even tried using the install options like "--dotfiles clone", and that didn't change the behavior. Thanks.

This was done on a MacBook Pro M2 running macOS 26.3 on OpenBoot Installer v0.28.1

    I found the install code, and it appears that the shell, dotfiles, and macos parts are ONLY executed when doing an interactive install. So it seems there is currently no way to get these steps to run when installing from a custom configuration. Am I reading that correctly? Maybe I'm just missing it, but I also am not seeing any steps in installer.go that would actually run the Custom Post-Install Script bits under any type of installation.

    @david-hosier Fixed in v0.28.2. Shell, dotfiles, and macOS setup now run correctly for custom config installs. The dotfiles_repo field in remote configs is also respected. Upgrade with brew upgrade openbootdotdev/tap/openboot or reinstall via curl -fsSL https://openboot.dev/install | bash.

    @david-hosier The custom post-install script feature already support now!
