I have came across with a similar problem in rtbtool yesterday, uninstalling and reinstalling matplotlib solved my issue, I hope it would help with your case as well.
Hi @followthwhiterabbit, rtbtool was the precursor to rvctool, same principles but I suspect it might be a bit buggier. It's roughly equivalent to rvctool --no-vision. Not sure why changes to matplotlib would have the effect you mentioned, that seems odd.
I've just done a clean install using conda for Python 3.10, on a Mac, and got no issues. If you still have no luck, are you willing to try it with conda? I resisted conda for ages, but it's made my life so much easier.
A couple of packaging bugs that could plausibly cause this have been fixed since the original report:
RVC3.bin and RVC3.models were implicit namespace packages (missing __init__.py) despite being explicitly listed in pyproject.toml's packages=[...] — fixed in docs+feat: README discoverability, rvctool defaults, bdsim model CLI access #47. That's exactly the kind of thing that can make a [project.scripts] entry point behave inconsistently across setuptools/pip versions.
The package has since been released as rvc3python 1.0.0 with both included.
Could you each try again against the latest release (pip install --upgrade rvc3python) in a fresh virtual environment, and if rvctool is still not found, let us know:
Python version and OS
pip or conda install
output of pip show rvc3python and which rvctool (where rvctool on Windows)
That'll help tell us whether this is fixed now, or whether there's a real bug still specific to your setup.
Thank you for your interest in RVC3-python, and for the report and your patience while this was open.
I've just done clean installs of rvc3python 1.0.0 from PyPI into fresh virtual environments on Python 3.10 and 3.12. In both, pip install rvc3python put an rvctool command in the environment and it started correctly with the toolboxes loaded. The packaging problems that could have caused this were fixed after your report (#47, #49) and released in 1.0.0.
If you still see "command not found", make sure the environment you installed into is activated (which rvctool should find it). If you have trouble with 1.0.0, please open a new issue with the output of pip show rvc3python and which rvctool.

are you working inside a virtual environment like conda? Did you try rehash?
this probably should have been reported as a bug rather than errata, it's an issue with the code not the book.

resolved?
MorphRobotics commentedon Jul 9, 2023
Not yet, I've attached a picture of the error I'm getting. To use the toolbox I have to go into iPython and manually code in that environment.

petercorke commentedon Jul 9, 2023
ok, this looks an error in the spatial math library related to type hints that is occurring for Python 3.10. Leave this with me.
petercorke commentedon Jul 16, 2023
Do you have the latest version of
typing_extensionsinstalled in this python environment?MorphRobotics commentedon Jul 24, 2023
Yes I do

I also encountered the same problem

Am I using Anaconda or the same issue. Python version 3.10.18
