Train 42b: smart-pointer receivers, re-export hops and literal sites in --for, Claude Code edit route - #476
Train 42b: C++ and Rust smart-pointer and trait-object receivers read as their pointee, the re-export chain behind a definition in --for, the literal sites for a quoted message or constant, and a leaner Claude Code edit route.
What changes for answers
Smart-pointer aliases peeled (IFACE-PEEL). A C++ member written as a smart-pointer alias (using FilterSharedPtr = std::shared_ptr<Filter>;, a typedef of std::unique_ptr<...>, or up to three plain aliases of one) is read through -> as its pointee. An interface-typed call now declines gate="iface" with its implementors counted, instead of listing every same-named method as a via="name" guess. A Rust local filled by a call returning &dyn T, Box<dyn T> or impl T is typed the same way. A deleted or defaulted operator, a friend declaration or a member-template declaration no longer makes a concrete base an interface; a pure virtual written through a macro (Envoy's PURE) still counts. Floors: using namespace is not followed, a nearer using-declaration of the alias name is not seen, a local or parameter written as an alias is not peeled, Go interface results are not read, and nushell's struct-pattern binding is not typed.
Re-export hops in --for (ALIAS-IMPORT). A --for answer about a definition the task names ends with <reexports>: the pub use and export ... from statements between the definition and the task's use site, nearest first (<def>, <rx p= l= use=|from= at= as=>, then the task file's <u> import). Rust paths resolve through crate, self, super, inline modules and Cargo names; a Rust import counts only in its own module, and a use inside a function body binds nothing outside it. TS/JS re-export specifiers are a new binding record (parser and cache version bump). Floors: a pub use a as b rename is not followed (counted as_skipped=, help-wanted [help wanted] A Rust use a as b rename reaches the call resolver (CONTRIBUTING slice 2b) #445), export * as ns is not a row, items defined inside an inline mod { } are not followed, and the rows are never call edges. Under an explicit --token-budget the rows are not printed (they sit outside est_tokens); one <reexports held="budget" defs="N"/> says how many definitions carry a chain. RIPWIRE_NO_REEXPORT_HOPS=1 turns the block off.
Literal sites in --for (MF1-LIT). A --for task that names a literal (a "double-quoted message" of two words or more, or a CONST_SHAPED word such as an env var, error code or setting) ends with <lit>: the byte-exact sites in source files, labelled by the parse (k=string|code|?, the enclosing definition), counts for comment, test and doc sites, and the function holding a shown site (whole when 10 lines or fewer, else an <x> excerpt of windows around the sites; a body already printed, including a <dispatch> body, is marked body="above"). Each <x> line is cut at 200 bytes with cut="1". The default compact legend names every attribute. A trailing comment ending in a colon no longer turns the next bare string into a docstring.
Claude Code edit route (CLAUDE-EDIT-ROUTE).ripwire wrap claude now writes --mcp-tools=no-edit into the MCP command it prints (every tool except replace_symbol_body, insert_before_symbol and insert_after_symbol; about 4 KB less tools/list per session; --mcp-tools=full restores them). Its edit blurb now says: take the symbol's line range from ripwire, Read only that range (offset/limit), then use Claude Code's native Edit. Claude Code refuses a native Edit on a file it has not Read, so the old "edit without a whole-file Read" line could not save the Read there. Other agents' wrap output is byte-identical; the Codex session-start primer keeps its own text.
Carried, not fixed.<lit> is absent under an explicit --token-budget, with no held marker (the budget answer is pinned byte-identical to the off switch; a marker needs a legend and a re-pin). The served list behind body="above" is partial: <dispatch> bodies are in it, but the graph-verb path-hop bodies and a degraded --detail section are not, so a literal's function can still print twice there. A <dispatch> single-candidate body has no byte cap (on main since train 42a): on a fixture with a 1,500-line implementation the block is 104 KB. A site past byte 200 of a long line shows only the line's head (next= recovers it), and an <ls> row cut at 200 B carries an ellipsis and no cut= attribute. A <dispatch> could not be made to co-fire with <reexports> or <lit> in one answer, and no in-sample row carries both.
Measured (in-sample)
Composed head vs main: 27 of 321 runs change (S1 164, MF1-DEV 39, LD 56, LD-2 31, MF1-DEV-2 31); the other 294 are byte-identical. On each changed row the answer minus the new block is byte-identical to main, and the block is byte-identical to the lane alone. The --impact census is 235 of 235 byte-identical, and S1 is 164 of 164. --quality-delta gating is 0 (41 regressions: 11 minor, 30 new-symbol).
IFACE-PEEL: 9 of 56 LD rows change, every one smaller. envoy-02 -208 B, envoy-03 -265 B, envoy-04 -243 B (mixed: true callees leave the hop rows until the implementors are named), envoy-05 -26 B; the other five reorder ties. Wrong by-name guesses are removed on envoy-02 and envoy-03.
ALIAS-IMPORT: fires on 7 of 321 rows, with 0 on S1: MF1 mdbook-01 +1.3 KB, LD nushell-04 +1.7 KB, vscode-08 +1.2 KB, zed-08 +1.8 KB, LD-2 angular-15 +1.1 KB, MF1-DEV-2 axum-03 +1.0 KB and pydantic-03 +1.2 KB. Under --token-budget=3000 all 7 print the marker, and the answer minus the marker equals the off-switch answer.
MF1-LIT: fires on 11 of 321 rows: MF1 fastify-02 +1.6 KB, fzf-05 +2.7 KB, textual-03 +2.3 KB, mdbook-04 +0.8 KB and ninja-06 +0.7 KB (body above), LD cpython-05 +1.0 KB and terraform-05 +1.2 KB, LD-2 angular-05 +0.8 KB, django-03 +2.0 KB and django-10 +3.3 KB, MF1-DEV-2 pydantic-05 +1.2 KB. No target row carries cut="1"; 0 new noise.
Interaction: the new gate="iface" decline can add one <dispatch> at a call site where main printed none; the body's same-named via="name" guesses are then gone, so one emitter replaces the other and nothing prints twice.
CLAUDE-EDIT-ROUTE: no --for rows. --mcp-tools=no-edit output names none of the three edit tools; the full set names all three.
Train work
Train fixes, each red-first: T-1 ab161e9 + 9d3f5b0 (a first step counting only a literal = 0 dropped Envoy's PURE-macro interfaces, which the composed rows caught), T-2 7f06fdf (Rust import scope), T-3 2924517 (<x> line cap), T-4 0aac75b (compact legend), T-5 N2 62fff98 (colon-ending comment).
CI fixes: 5cd89c1 (help golden re-pinned for the --mcp-tools help change) and b50d951 (fragment prose no longer spells undocumented flags).
Merges of the four lanes, in order: a0ad79e (IFACE-PEEL), 5723f0a (ALIAS-IMPORT), 6903e9d (MF1-LIT), 48ec2d6 (CLAUDE-EDIT-ROUTE). Conflicts were generated sites, version lines and the gate list; MF1-LIT's served set gains the <dispatch> body.
Pre-review fix 46e4525 + 0836c2c: <reexports> under --token-budget (reexportcheck H1-H5, red on the merged head, green after; the second commit removes a duplicated string scan that --quality-delta flagged).
Merge of main (d044662, the NUL-framed git-log reader): 3cebd01, with the gate count rewritten to 735 and kQChurnCacheScheme 3 to 4 kept from main.
--for results can now include Rust and TypeScript/JavaScript re-export paths, plus matching literal occurrences and relevant source context.
C++ smart-pointer aliases and Rust trait-object returns are better recognized when reporting interface-based calls.
Claude Code setup defaults to excluding MCP edit tools and guides edits through a symbol’s line range and native Edit. The full tool set remains available with --mcp-tools=full.
Symbol-row output now uses qualified names for member symbols.

…ng let locals for the dispatch tier
A C++ member written as an alias of std::shared_ptr<I> / std::unique_ptr<I> (using, typedef,
or an alias of such an alias, chain cap 4) is I through '->', so an interface I declines
gate=iface instead of a by-name guess (envoy ActiveStreamDecoderFilter::decodeHeaders).
A Rust local initialised by a call whose one proven callee returns &dyn T / Box<dyn T> /
impl T is typed as some implementor of T, so the inherent namesake (CallEval::run) is no
longer listed. New LangFacts columns aliasPeelsSmartPointer / returnTypedDispatchLet;
kParserVer placeholder 259. test/ifacepeelcheck.sh pins P1 P2 N1-N6.

…odies (<lit>, MF1-LIT)
A --for task carrying a "double-quoted message" or a CONST_SHAPED word (an env var, an error
code, a setting name) ends with <lit>: the grep verb's literal scan of the index, source sites
labelled by the parse (k=string|code|?), sites inside a function first, comment/docstring, test
and doc sites counted but never listed as handlers, the owning function's body (or an excerpt
around the site past 3,000 B), a body already printed marked body="above". Own legend, bytes=,
not in est_tokens; RIPWIRE_NO_LITERAL_ANCHOR=1 is the rest of the answer byte for byte; --json,
--columnar, --candidates and --token-budget carry none.
Gate: test/forliteralcheck.sh (L1-L9, X1-X3). Gate count 730; LIMITS.md regenerated.

…g and context arms
A literal met only in tests, docs or comments anchors nothing (ld2-django-09 fired 1.3 KB for
counts alone): the block now needs one source site. The legend is cut from ~1.15 KB to 730 B.
forliteralcheck gains L1b (a site inside a function is the first row), L1c (a string site
outside any function carries the lines after it) and L6b (test/doc-only literal: no block).

A --for answer about a definition the task names now ends with a <reexports>
block: the def row, then each re-export statement nearest the definition
first, then the task-named file's own import. Rust: pub use item / group /
module re-export / glob (glob="1", hedged), paths resolved through
crate/self/super, child modules and Cargo package names (same-named items
keep their module identity; cands=N when two manifests spell one crate).
TS/JS: export { a [as b] } from, export * from, recorded by the TS/TSX/JS
tags queries through the shared binds channel (emitCapturedImportBind's
new Web arm) as LocalBindKind::ReExport, read only by src/forreexport.h.
Rows only, never call edges. Rust `pub use a as b` renames are counted
(as_skipped=) and not followed: help-wanted #445. Fires only when the task
asks where something comes from (cue word or `NAME from <module>`) or the
chain reaches a task-named file. RIPWIRE_NO_REEXPORT_HOPS turns it off.
kParserVer 261 / kCacheVersion 47 are PLACEHOLDERS (the train renumbers);
qschemetrip re-pinned; gate count 730. Gate: test/reexportcheck.sh.

…the override set of a concrete pointee; gate the member reader on its language
B1: SmartAliasPeel (resolve.h) replaces the repo-wide bare-name alias table. An alias is read only where it is in scope at the
member: ingest records the lexical scope of an alias and of a member (memberRoot, cppScopePath), the member's class last; a
qualified member reaches the aliases of a scope of that name, an unqualified one its lexical chain innermost first. A template
parameter of the alias's spelling (memberVia mark, captureFields), a function-local class, a name no scope declares and a
using-directive keep the base reading. Chain cap 4 now states what it counts (alias declarations: the smart alias plus 3 plain).
N1: a pointee that is a concrete class with derived classes (no bodyless member) is not peeled.
L-1: recordMemberTypeFact is gated on langFacts(cr.lang).aliasPeelsSmartPointer.
Gate/doc fixes from CI 40800266737: ifacepeelcheck listed in regression.sh; README cap count; docs/TUNING.md re-emitted;
showcase seed renumbered to the new rankGraphTeleport body line. kParserVer 259 -> 260 (placeholder, the train renumbers).

… arm
- webReexportBindOf refuses a capture whose directive is null (a star
mutant reached ts_node_type on a null node: SIGSEGV on the fixture).
- `X from <module>` keeps only definitions under that package's directory
(`from @angular/core` -> core/): angular-15 printed a same-named
compiler AST `Component` chain before; now the core decorator's.
- reexportcheck: one statement one row (dedupe mutant), P1 package arms.

- reexportcheck: if/else verdicts (gateexitcheck G2).
- docs/LIMITS.md regenerated; README 302 compile-time caps (4 kReexport caps).

… its MCP profile
Claude Code refuses a native Edit on a file it has not Read, so the
"apply a whole-symbol edit without a whole-file Read" blurb line could not
save it a Read, and in our own usage the ripwire edit verbs were never
called there. AgentTarget gains a readBeforeEdit column (claude = true):
its blurb pair names line range -> ranged Read -> native Edit, and its
`claude mcp add` command passes the new --mcp-tools=no-edit profile (every
tool but the three edit twins, held to the verb table by a static_assert).
--mcp-tools=full still restores the whole catalog. Every other agent's
`wrap` output is byte-identical to before. Skills/README carry the agent
qualifier; the edit verbs and their docs are unchanged.
Gates: agenttablecheck (L) holds the column both ways; wrapverbscheck and
mcptoolsubsetcheck gain claude arms and keep the full-catalog twin.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Conflicts: src/verbs_for.h keeps both post-answer blocks (ALIAS-IMPORT's
re-export rows, then MF1-LIT's literal block); the literal block's
already-served set now also holds dispatchHop.xml (train 42a's
DISPATCH-HOP prints one candidate's <b> body), so that body is marked
body="above" instead of printed twice. Generated docs kept main's
(regenerated once); test/regression.sh gate list = union.

… interface
rv-iface-delta2 R1: a concrete base whose one bodyless member was a
deleted / defaulted operator, a friend declaration or a member-template
declaration went into abstract_, so a smart-pointer alias member peeled to
one typed Base::act and the override was missed (unhedged). SmartAliasPeel
now reads a base class's bodyless member declarations from the file and
counts only a pure-specifier (declaresPureSpecifier: the text up to the
first ';' ends in `= 0`); an unreadable or braced declaration reads as no
contract (the hedge, the safe direction). Only classes in bases_ are read
(abstract_ is consulted only for a base).
Red-first: test/ifacepeelcheck.sh R1 x4 (runtime fixture: = delete,
= default, friend, member template) FAIL on lane head 48daec9 and on the
composed pre-fix head eec2e47; twin (a pure base still declines
gate="iface") PASS on both. Green: 61/0.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…r from a fn body
rv-alias-import-delta NEW-1: resolveRustPath counted an import visible when
its module path was a PREFIX of the current one (a child `mod` inherits no
parent `use`), and indexed a `use` inside a function body as file scope; in
both cases the read-through beat the Cargo-name lookup and the row landed
on the wrong crate, unhedged. Now the import's module must EQUAL the
path's module, and TypeImport bindings inside a Rust fn/method body are not
indexed into `imported`.
Red-first: test/reexportcheck.sh X1a (parent module's use) and X1b (fn-body
use), 4 FAIL on lane head 9c3245d and on eec2e47; twin X1c (same-module
import still read through) PASS on both. Green: 63/0.

…cut="1"
rv-mf1-lit-delta N1: excerptElement appended each window line whole, so a
body short in lines but long in bytes (a minified bundle, embedded data or
SQL) went to an excerpt made of the same long lines: a 48.8 KB one-line
function printed 48,853 B of CDATA. Each excerpt line is now cut with
truncateUtf8WithEllipsis at kForLiteralLineBytes (the <ls> row's cap); the
element says cut="1" and next= (--expand) prints the whole body. Both
legends name cut=. Floor: a site past byte 200 of a long line shows only
the line's head (as its <ls> row already did); next= recovers it.
Red-first: test/forliteralcheck.sh N1 (runtime m.js-shaped fixture, <x>
<= 3,000 B with cut="1" and the site line) FAIL on lane head e0e16f7
(48,947 B) and on eec2e47; twin (short lines never cut) PASS on both.
Green: 305 B.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nt prints
rv-mf1-lit-delta N3: the default (--legend=compact) text did not name
hits= src= shown= capped= shape= bytes= next=, so `capped="1"` with
shown= < src= (the only sign the rows are partial) was unexplained, and
"of= whole" was wrong (of= is the body's line range; next= fetches the
whole body). The compact form now names all of them and cut= (T-3):
326 -> 433 B per fire (+107 B: the brief's ~+45 B estimate covered
hits/src/shown/capped/of/next only; shape=, bytes= and cut= are the rest).
forliteralcheck L11's ceiling moves 340 -> 450 for those names only, and
it now asserts each name and the absence of "of= whole" (stronger, twin
kept: the payload is identical under --legend=full).
Red-first: L11 FAIL on lane head e0e16f7 and on eec2e47 (compact 326 B,
names missing). Green: 433 B, all names present.

…o def header
rv-mf1-lit-delta N2: endsWithColon's whole-line disjunct (kept so
`def f(x="#"):` stays a header) also matched `x = x + 1 # note:`, so
climbBelow climbed to the def and the next bare string at body indent was
counted as a docstring (comment=) instead of listed. The whole-line form
now applies only to a def / async def / class line.
Red-first: test/forliteralcheck.sh N2 (runtime d.py fixture: the string
after `# note:` is a row at l=9, like its twin at l=3) FAIL on lane head
e0e16f7 and on eec2e47 (only l=3 listed). Green.

… delete/default/friend/template
The first T-1 step counted only a literal `= 0` as a contract. The
composed-head target rows caught it: Envoy spells every pure virtual
through `#define PURE = 0`, so its interfaces read as concrete and the
iface-peel gains on LARGE-DEV envoy-02/03/04/05 were lost (each answer
back to main's bytes). The rule is now the reviewer's alternative:
a bodyless member that is not a constructor / destructor is a contract
unless its declaration (read from the previous `;`/`{`/`}` to its `;`)
ends in `= delete` / `= default`, or names `friend` or `template` before
its parameter list (bodylessIsNoContract). Unreadable text keeps the
lane's reading (a contract).
Red-first: the new twin arm "a pure virtual spelled through a macro
(PURE) still declines gate=iface" FAILS on the first step (039203a) and
passes on the lane head; the four R1 arms stay red on 48daec9 / eec2e47.
Green: ifacepeelcheck 62/0; envoy-02/03/04/05 byte-identical to the
pre-fix composed head again.

Walkthrough
The pull request adds re-export-hop and literal-anchor output to --for, extends C++ alias and Rust call-result interface typing, and changes Claude Code’s wrapper and MCP tool defaults. It also updates columnar naming, tests, documentation, version records, and repository counts.
Queries capture sourced Web re-exports. Ingest normalizes them as ReExport bindings, and parser and cache versions are updated.
Resolve and render re-export hops src/forreexport.h, src/verbs_for.h, src/graph.h
The --for path discovers eligible definitions, follows supported Rust and Web re-exports, applies traversal limits, and emits hop rows or a budget marker. File-class evidence skips re-export bindings.
Tests and fixtures cover re-export chains, resolution cases, filters, and limits. Documentation records the output rules and cache layout.
Literal anchors for --for
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Select literals and render source context src/forliteral.h
The renderer selects eligible task literals, finds and classifies matching sites, ranks rows, and emits bounded owner bodies or excerpts with counts and continuation metadata.
Append anchors to eligible --for output src/verbs_for.h, changelog.d/mf1-lit-literal-anchor.md, docs/LIMITS.md
The XML path appends literal results only in supported modes and uses already-served bodies to avoid repetition.
Check anchor selection and output bounds test/forliteralcheck.sh
The regression test checks selection, classifications, excerpts, limits, supported modes, byte counts, determinism, and XML validity when available.
Interface typing for aliases and call results

Summary
Capture language-specific type facts src/langfacts.h, src/model.h, src/ingest_relations.h, src/ingest_binds.h
Language facts enable C++ alias peeling and Rust return-typed dispatch. Ingest records alias, scope, template, and dispatch-return facts.
Resolve aliases and type call results src/resolve.h, src/graph.h, src/receiverevidence.h
Alias resolution follows supported lexical scopes and declines ambiguous or unsupported cases. Graph narrowing uses resolved pointees, and Rust dispatch typing applies when the stated conditions match.
Check alias and dispatch cases test/ifacepeelcheck.sh, changelog.d/iface-peel.md, docs/LIMITS.md
Tests cover alias scopes, limits, exclusions, Rust trait returns, and declaration controls. Documentation describes the handling and alias-depth cap.

The new literal anchors can print credential-shaped source text that the short-body path would redact. The Claude wrap recipe can also register an older installed ripwire with an unsupported flag, so the MCP server fails to start. Fix these two before merging; the format gate's silent skip and the smaller disclosure and documentation gaps can follow.

Condition the MCP edit instruction on tool availability.
The default Claude server still lists fetch_body, but it refuses the three edit verbs. After fetch_body, this instruction directs Claude to a tool that its default server does not expose. Restrict it to sessions with edit tools enabled. Apply the same condition to skills/ripwire-mcp/mcp-reference.md, Lines 57–65.

Disclose the definitions and task words that the caps cut.
The answer drops some chains and words without any record:
reexportChains can return more than kReexportDefCap chains for one name. The loop prints the first two and drops the rest. No row and no count show the dropped chains.
reexportTaskNames stops at kReexportNameCap words. A fourth task word that names a re-exported definition gets no block and no disclosure.
c.uses stops at kReexportUseCap in noteReexportUse and webReexportUses. The answer does not count the uses it drops.
A reader therefore cannot tell "no other definition has a chain" from "a cap dropped it". Count the dropped chains (and names, if the name cap fired) and emit the counts. For example, add an attribute on a closing element and a legend clause, present only when the count is greater than 0. The same applies to the held marker: defs= counts only printed chains, so it is a floor whenever the cap fired.
As per path instructions: "Flag silent zeros, undisclosed truncation, and gate arms that cannot fail" and "A count that cannot be a total must be labelled a floor".
Sketch
std::size_t printedDefs = 0; // the def rows printed (the held marker's count)
+ std::size_t cutDefs = 0; // chains past kReexportDefCap: never printed, counted here
for( const std::string& name : names )
{
const std::vector<Chain> chains = reexportChains( w, defs, name );

}
+ if( k >= kReexportDefCap )+ {+ ++cutDefs;+ continue;+ }+ xml.chain( chains[ k ] );+ ++printedDefs;
}
}
Emit cutDefs (for example <cut defs="N"/> before </reexports>) and define it in kReexportLegend.

The contract check falls back to "a contract" without disclosure when the file cannot be read or is over 1 MiB.
readConfigBytes returns an empty string when the file is over 1 MiB or cannot be opened. bodylessIsNoContract then returns false, so every bodyless member of such a base counts as a contract. The base becomes abstract_, and pointeeOf pins the base type instead of refusing.
This degrade path is silent. It also reads source bytes from disk during resolve, not from the index. If the file on disk differs from the indexed bytes, s.sigStartByte points at unrelated text, and the answer depends on disk state instead of the index.
Requested changes:
Disclose this degrade path through the existing diagnostics sink.
On an empty or oversized read, default to the refusing direction: no abstract_ entry, so the base is treated as concrete.
As per path instructions: "A degrade path uses DISCLOSE( sink, why )… Flag silent zeros, undisclosed truncation", and "External input (files, …) is checked with VALIDATE."

A member that is a pointer to a smart-pointer alias now peels to the pointee.
The direct case refuses std::unique_ptr<Widget>* p_; at Line 1571–1574, because p_-> reaches the smart pointer, not Widget. The alias case has no such guard:
For using FilterSharedPtr = std::shared_ptr<Filter>; FilterSharedPtr* p_;, the declarator is a pointer_declarator.
The record gets composeRel = "uses" and viaArrow = false, so nothing marks it as a pointer.
graph.hrecordMemberTypeFact then calls SmartAliasPeel::pointeeOf and records Filter as arrow-only.
As a result, p_->get() or p_->reset() narrows to Filter::get / Filter::reset. The real callee is a std::shared_ptr member.
Before this change, the member recorded FilterSharedPtr, which names no class, so no edge was made.
Fix: mark a pointer-declared member so the alias reader skips it. One option is a dedicated memberVia marker that pointeeOf refuses, like kTemplateParamMemberType.
Proposed fix
r.memberRoot = classScope; // the lexical scope the written type is looked up in (model.h kAnonScopeElement)
- if( pointee.name.empty() && std::ranges::find( templateParams, r.name ) != templateParams.end() )+ if( pointee.name.empty() && kindIs( dt, "pointer_declarator" ) )+ {+ r.memberVia = std::string( kTemplateParamMemberType ); // `AliasPtr* p_;`: `p_->` reaches the smart pointer, never its pointee+ }+ else if( pointee.name.empty() && std::ranges::find( templateParams, r.name ) != templateParams.end() )
{
A separate named marker is cleaner than reusing kTemplateParamMemberType. Add a regression arm to test/ifacepeelcheck.sh.

Mark pointer-declared members in the member-recording logic using a dedicated
`memberVia` marker, and make `SmartAliasPeel::pointeeOf` skip records with that
marker so aliases are not peeled to their pointee. Preserve the existing
template-parameter handling and add a regression case for a pointer to a
smart-pointer alias.
1309-1320: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
An alias whose pointee is an enclosing template parameter peels to a same-named in-tree class.
Example:
template <class Handler> struct S { using HPtr = std::shared_ptr<Handler>; HPtr h_; };
What happens:
The alias records memberCtor = "Handler" with kind Pointer.
The member h_ is not marked kTemplateParamMemberType, because its written type is HPtr, not Handler.
pointeeOf therefore returns Handler.
If the tree also defines a class named Handler, h_->run() narrows to Handler::run. The call can bind to an unrelated class.
Before this change, the member recorded HPtr and made no narrow. Template parameters named after a concept (Handler, Allocator, Callback) are common.
Fix: check the pointee against enclosingTemplateParameterNames( aliasNode, cx.src ). Leave memberCtor empty, or refuse the alias, when the pointee names a parameter.
enclosingTemplateParameterNames is declared after emitTypeAlias. It needs a forward declaration or a move.

In the smart-pointer alias peeling block around stdSmartPointee, check an
unqualified pointee name against the enclosing template parameter names for

memberCtor empty or mark the alias refused so it cannot narrow calls to a
same-named class; otherwise preserve the existing memberCtor and memberVia
assignments.

Mark rows whose owner body was held by the kForLiteralBodies cap.
The fourth and later distinct callable owners get no <b> and no <x> element when out.bodies >= kForLiteralBodies. Their <ls> rows have no body= attribute. These rows look the same as rows whose owner had no body at all. The legend says that b/x is "a shown site's whole function". A reader therefore cannot see that bodies were held.

Label comment= as a floor when any source site stays unclassified.
Comment and docstring sites are counted only in files that the span-tier batch classified. Two cases leave sites unclassified:
A source hit file past kForLiteralTierFiles (64).
A file whose batch.perFile[idx].isParsed is false.
These sites keep k='?'. They count in src= and never in comment=. The output still prints comment="N" as a total. The floor="1" flag fires only on !collected.cleanScan(), so this case does not set it. The path instruction requires a floor label here: "A count that cannot be a total must be labelled a floor … Flag silent zeros, undisclosed truncation". When the literal appears in comments in more than 64 source files, the output can print comment="0" while comment sites exist.
Track whether any source site stayed unclassified. Set floor="1" in that case, or emit a dedicated attribute such as unclassified=.

Add edition = "2021" and an inner path dependency to the generated c/Cargo.toml.
Without an edition key, Cargo uses the 2015 edition. In 2015, use paths start at the crate root, so inner::Thing5 in c/src/x/v.rs resolves to c's own inner module, not the external inner crate. The X1a and X1b assertions expect the inner crate's definitions, so they encode a scenario this generated package cannot produce. Split the raw value before XML entity decoding.
C++ specialization scopes can contain commas, such as Slot<std::pair<int, long>>::clear(). qualifiedMemberName preserves that scope, and writeCommaEscaped emits the comma as &#44;.

It builds a files map over every indexed file.
buildRustCrates reads every Cargo.toml from disk.
It runs the walk for every name.
If the task has no cue word (cued == false) and names no file, reexportTaskFiles returns all zeros. Every chain then has uses.empty(), and the function returns "". All of that I/O and index work is wasted on the most common --for shape (an ordinary orientation question that mentions a type name).
Compute cued and the task-file vector first. Return early when !cued and no file is named.

CodeRabbit review of head 0836c2c (review 5712563408, inline comments 4423843223 and 4423843244) is addressed in five commits on the integration branch:
7dc3f88<lit>: the matched line, the lines after a table entry and each excerpt window are credential-redacted before the byte cut (inline 4423843223); rows whose owner body the three-body cap held back say body="held"; floor="1" when a source site stayed unclassified; the changelog fragment states the selection constraints, the 3,000-byte cap, the row cap and the single-root rule; forliteralcheck checks the exit status of its negative tasks and gains arms R1 (redaction), H1 (held), F1 (floor).
83908d4 iface-peel: a pointer to a smart-pointer alias (AliasPtr* p_;) and an alias of shared_ptr<T> where T is an enclosing template parameter keep the base reading; ifacepeelcheck arms CR0 to CR2 plus the positive definition counts for the negative-only N4 and N6 arms.
dfd1783--for<reexports> returns before the file map and the Cargo.toml reads when no cue word and no task-named file can print a chain (byte-identical).
97885f4 the ripwire-mcp skill and reference condition the MCP edit-verb guidance on the server listing the edit verbs; hookcheck pins the agent and the jq adapter of the Codex wrapper; the reexportcheck Cargo fixture is a valid 2021-edition package.

Carried to the next train, with reasons: the bare ripwire token in the wrap recipe when a PATH copy exists (a documented design; a fix changes every agent recipe); counts for the re-export definition, task-word and use caps (three caps in four functions: counters, attributes, legend clause and arms); the unreadable or over-1-MiB header read in the contract check (deliberate and commented; needs a diagnostics sink in the resolver); the l= wording in the Claude edit blurb (measured text); the , decode-order wording in the columnar legend and the format-gate SKIP in test/regression.sh (both on main before this train).
Local evidence: forliteralcheck and ifacepeelcheck new arms are red on 0836c2c and pass at 97885f4; quality-delta gating 0; prereview pass=15 fail=0. The full-matrix CI dispatch on lane/cr-harvest-476 carries the full-suite-only gates.
