## [Unreleased]

### Added

- **Agent-framework integration adapters** — added dependency-light wrappers for OpenAI Agents SDK, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, and Pydantic AI.
- **Shared agent security primitives** — added common agent input/output scanning, unsafe handoff detection, role drift heuristics, and cross-agent instruction-smuggling checks.
- **Phase 3 examples and docs** — added runnable local examples and integration docs for all five agent-framework adapters.

# AutoGen Integration

ProofLayer provides `SecurityMiddleware` for wrapping Microsoft AutoGen-style agents with runtime security checks. The wrapper scans user messages, agent outputs, callable tools, and agent-to-agent handoff messages. It is designed to complement AutoGen's multi-agent conversation patterns without replacing native orchestration.

## Install

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[autogen]"
```

## Setup

```python
from prooflayer.integrations.autogen import SecurityConfig, SecurityMiddleware
middleware = SecurityMiddleware(
config=SecurityConfig(
prompt_injection="block",
unsafe_handoff="block",
exfil="block",
)
)
secured_agent = middleware.wrap_agent(agent)
```

## Detection Categories

- Prompt injection
- Jailbreak
- Tool abuse
- Tool poisoning
- Data exfiltration
- Role drift
- Unsafe delegation
- Cross-agent instruction smuggling

## Audit Output

Detection events include the `autogen` integration name, timestamp, decision, rule IDs, evidence payload, and sha256 chain-of-custody hash.

## Compatibility Notes

The adapter is tested with framework-like runtime objects and keeps optional AutoGen dependencies outside the base install path.

# CrewAI Integration

ProofLayer provides `SecurityMiddleware` for wrapping CrewAI crews and agents with runtime security checks. The wrapper scans crew inputs, outputs, tools, and delegation messages while preserving common methods such as `kickoff`, `kickoff_async`, `run`, and `invoke`. It complements CrewAI orchestration by adding a deterministic security layer around execution.

## Install

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[crewai]"
```

## Setup

```python
from prooflayer.integrations.crewai import SecurityConfig, SecurityMiddleware
middleware = SecurityMiddleware(
config=SecurityConfig(
prompt_injection="block",
unsafe_handoff="block",
exfil="block",
)
)
secured_crew = middleware.wrap_crew(crew)
```

## Detection Categories

- Role drift
- Unsafe delegation
- Cross-agent instruction smuggling

## Audit Output

Detection events include the `crewai` integration name, timestamp, decision, rule IDs, evidence payload, and sha256 chain-of-custody hash.

## Compatibility Notes

The adapter does not import CrewAI at module import time. Base `prooflayer-rules` installs remain independent of CrewAI's dependency graph.

# OpenAI Agents SDK Integration

ProofLayer provides `ProofLayerGuardrail` for wrapping OpenAI Agents SDK-style runtimes with deterministic security checks. The wrapper scans agent input, agent output, callable tools, and handoff messages while preserving common invocation methods such as `run`, `arun`, `invoke`, and `ainvoke`. Optional dependencies are loaded by the customer application; importing ProofLayer's adapter does not require the OpenAI Agents SDK to be installed.

## Install

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[openai-agents]"
```

## Setup

```python
from prooflayer.integrations.openai_agents import ProofLayerGuardrail, SecurityConfig
guardrail = ProofLayerGuardrail(
config=SecurityConfig(
prompt_injection="block",
exfil="block",
unsafe_handoff="block",
)
)
secured_agent = guardrail.wrap_agent(agent)
```

## Audit Output

Detection events include the `openai_agents` integration name, timestamp, decision, rule IDs, evidence payload, and sha256 chain-of-custody hash.

## Compatibility Notes

The adapter is dependency-light and method-preserving. It is intended to wrap agent objects that expose common methods such as `run`, `arun`, `invoke`, `ainvoke`, `call`, or `execute`.

# Pydantic AI Integration

ProofLayer provides `SecurityMiddleware` for wrapping Pydantic AI-style agents with runtime security checks. The wrapper scans typed-agent input, output, callable tools, and handoff messages. It keeps the agent's native invocation flow intact while emitting ProofLayer audit events.

## Install

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[pydantic-ai]"
```

## Setup

```python
from prooflayer.integrations.pydantic_ai import SecurityConfig, SecurityMiddleware
middleware = SecurityMiddleware(
config=SecurityConfig(
prompt_injection="block",
unsafe_handoff="block",
exfil="block",
)
)
secured_agent = middleware.wrap_agent(agent)
```

## Detection Categories

## Audit Output

Detection events include the `pydantic_ai` integration name, timestamp, decision, rule IDs, evidence payload, and sha256 chain-of-custody hash.

## Compatibility Notes

The adapter is dependency-light and works with agent objects that expose common sync or async invocation methods.

Both integrations keep optional framework imports out of the base import path.

## Phase 3 Status

Phase 3 adds dependency-light wrappers for agent-framework runtimes:

| Integration | Public API | Protected surfaces |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI Agents SDK | `ProofLayerGuardrail.wrap_agent(agent)` | agent input, output, tools, handoffs |
| CrewAI | `SecurityMiddleware.wrap_crew(crew)` / `wrap_agent(agent)` | crew input, output, tools, delegation |
| AutoGen | `SecurityMiddleware.wrap_agent(agent)` | messages, output, tools, handoffs |
| Semantic Kernel | `SecurityMiddleware.wrap_kernel(kernel)` / `wrap_agent(agent)` | kernel input, output, tools, handoffs |
| Pydantic AI | `SecurityMiddleware.wrap_agent(agent)` | typed-agent input, output, tools, handoffs |

The optional extras are:

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[openai-agents]"
pip install "prooflayer-rules[crewai]"
pip install "prooflayer-rules[autogen]"
pip install "prooflayer-rules[semantic-kernel]"
pip install "prooflayer-rules[pydantic-ai]"
```

These adapters share role-drift, unsafe-handoff, and cross-agent instruction
smuggling checks through `prooflayer.integrations.common.AgentSecurity`.

# Semantic Kernel Integration

ProofLayer provides `SecurityMiddleware` for wrapping Semantic Kernel agents and kernels with runtime security checks. The wrapper scans kernel input, output, callable tools, and agent handoff messages. It complements Semantic Kernel by adding deterministic threat detection and audit events around execution.

## Install

```bash
pip install "prooflayer-rules[semantic-kernel]"
## Setup
```python
from prooflayer.integrations.semantic_kernel import SecurityConfig, SecurityMiddleware

middleware = SecurityMiddleware(
config=SecurityConfig(
prompt_injection="block",

## Compatibility Notes
