Homebridge platform plugin for KDK / Panasonic ceiling fans with WiFi (e.g. E48GP-MW).

Communicates with the fan locally over ECHONET Lite (UDP port 3610) — no cloud dependency.

Features

Each fan exposes four tiles in Apple Home:

Tile	HomeKit service	Controls
Ceiling Fan	Fan (v2)	Speed slider (0–100% in 10 steps; 0% = off), rotation direction
Ceiling Fan Light	Lightbulb	Brightness (1–100%), colour temperature (warm–cool)
[Name] Light	Switch	Dedicated light on/off toggle
[Name] Night Mode	Switch	Night mode on/off; brightness slider then controls 3 nightlight levels

Fan controls

• On/off via speed slider (drag to 0% = off, drag above 0% = on)
• 10 speed levels
• Clockwise / counter-clockwise rotation direction

Light controls

• On/off via the Light switch tile or by tapping the lightbulb tile
• Brightness 1–100%
• Colour temperature (warm 2000 K → cool 6500 K)
• Night mode: dims to one of three low-light levels

General

• Fully local — no internet or cloud account required
• Auto-discovery via SSDP broadcast
• Periodic status polling to keep HomeKit in sync with physical remote changes

Requirements

• Homebridge ≥ 1.3.0
• Node.js ≥ 14
• KDK / Panasonic WiFi ceiling fan on the same LAN
• UFW rule (if UFW is active on your Homebridge machine):

Installation

sudo npm install -g homebridge-kdk-plugin

Then restart Homebridge.

Configuration

Add the platform to your config.json. The simplest setup — just provide a name and the fan's IP:

Auto-discovery (no IP)

Omit ip to auto-discover on startup. Optionally provide the fan's guid (from SSDP) to match a specific device:

Configuration options

How it works

The KDK Smart app communicates with the fan via ECHONET Lite (a Japanese IoT standard) over UDP port 3610. On startup this plugin:

1. Sends an SSDP M-SEARCH broadcast to discover fans on the local network
2. Opens a UDP socket on port 3610 to send and receive ECHONET Lite frames
3. Polls the fan every pollInterval seconds to keep HomeKit state in sync
