Ships roadmap items 13-22 and retires them in the same branch. The plan text stays in history; the shipped record lives in the six changesets. The roadmap diff nets to zero.

What lands:

  • Recall search: role, date, and tool filters; anchor windows on expand; overlap-ordered manifests; a read-only files view with a coverage flag.
  • Static sidecar dump for Pi (/lcm dump) and OpenCode (/lossless-dump): bounded, redacted, read-only, with save support.
  • Mechanical tier for noisy tools, wired through both adapters behind an opt-in config knob.
  • Import refusal on hash, length, repeated-entry, and stored-text mismatches, checked atomically.
  • Orphan-sidecar reports in doctor and diagnose, with Pi .db coverage.
  • Ingest watermark-miss signal in metrics and UI.
  • Review hardening from the CodeRabbit and Greptile passes: pre-limit tool scoping, quote-safe FTS fallbacks, mixed-leaf clipped marking with heal repair, per-summary byte caps, exclusive temp saves, removed-row filtering.

Gates on the tip: vp check clean, tsc clean, 66 test files and 841 tests green, pack builds. All review threads resolved; Greptile rates the tip 5/5 with no blocking issues.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Filter history searches by role, date range, or tool, and rank results by query relevance. Expand summaries around a chosen entry and view linked files and uncovered messages.
    • Configure noisy tools for deterministic summaries without a summarizer call.
    • Create bounded, redacted, read-only session dumps with optional search and removed entries; save dumps to a file.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Imports reject linked files whose content, byte count, or SHA-256 does not match the recorded data.
    • Integrity checks report orphaned sidecars. Ingest rescans record a signal and show an interactive warning when applicable; empty entries remain silently skipped.

RetriggerView in GreptileConfidence Score: 5/5

This PR appears safe to merge, with no new blocking issues found.

Summary

This PR adds recall filters, mechanical compaction for noisy tools, import checks, sidecar reporting, and read-only dumps.

  • Pi signals when a missing watermark triggers a history rescan.
  • Imports reject file links whose message text does not match the recorded content.
  • Configured noisy tools get compact leaves without a summarizer call.
  • Doctor and diagnose report sidecar files with no open session handle.
  • Recall filters and sorts history, centers message windows, and lists linked files.
  • Pi and OpenCode can print or save a bounded sidecar dump.

Walkthrough

This PR adds recall filters and views, mechanical compaction, import validation, orphan-sidecar reporting, read-only sidecar dumps, and watermark-rescan signals. It updates the Pi and OpenCode integrations, tests, changesets, and roadmap.

Changes: Recall search and views

Layer / File(s) Summary
Recall filters and store queries
packages/core/src/store.ts, packages/core/src/recall-view.ts, packages/core/src/sessions.ts, packages/core/src/util/recall-tools.ts, packages/pi/src/tools/recall.ts, packages/opencode/src/cross-session.ts, packages/opencode/src/tools.ts, docs/roadmap.md
Store queries and recall views apply role and inclusive date filters. Query searches can also scope results to tool markers. Pi and OpenCode forward filters to current- and past-session searches.
Anchored expansion and query-aware views
packages/core/src/recall-view.ts, packages/core/src/retrieval.ts, packages/core/src/util/recall-tools.ts, packages/core/test/recall-upgrades.test.ts, .changeset/recall-search-upgrades.md, docs/roadmap.md
Summary listings can center on an entry anchor. Nonblank queries rank history summaries by word overlap. The files view reports linked files, uncovered messages, and large inline messages.

Mechanical compaction

Layer / File(s) Summary
Mechanical tool configuration and classification
packages/core/src/util/summarizer-config.ts, packages/core/src/compaction-engine.ts, packages/core/src/summarize.ts, packages/pi/src/ui/config-io.ts, packages/opencode/src/plugin.ts, docs/roadmap.md, .changeset/mechanical-noisy-tier.md
Configuration accepts tool names, and helpers normalize and identify supported tool-message formats. Compaction classifies matching messages and splits chunks into runs. Pi and OpenCode pass configured names into compaction.
Mechanical leaf storage and condensation
packages/core/src/compaction-engine.ts, packages/core/test/mechanical-tier.test.ts, packages/core/test/heal.test.ts, packages/opencode/test/pass.test.ts
Mechanical runs become redacted, truncated leaves. Mechanical-only condensation avoids model calls. Mixed leaves omit mechanical content from prompts and can be healed from provenance.
Integration and configuration coverage
packages/pi/test/config-io.test.ts, packages/opencode/test/plugin.test.ts
Tests cover parsing the configured tool-name lists and forwarding them through integration options.

Import file validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Validate file rows before import
packages/core/src/import.ts, packages/core/test/import.test.ts, packages/core/test/files.test.ts, docs/roadmap.md, .changeset/import-hash-check.md
Import rejects inconsistent repeated message text and linked file rows whose character count or SHA-256 does not match. Tests cover round trips, mismatches, and preservation of existing rows.

Orphan-sidecar reporting

Layer / File(s) Summary
Discover and report orphan sidecars
packages/core/src/store.ts, packages/core/src/integrity.ts, packages/core/test/integrity.test.ts, docs/roadmap.md, .changeset/orphan-sidecar-report.md
Integrity snapshots find orphan database, WAL, and SHM files. Integrity checks report informational findings with sampled paths.
Diagnose sidecar paths
packages/opencode/src/lifecycle.ts, packages/opencode/test/lifecycle.test.ts, packages/pi/src/ui/command.ts, packages/pi/test/command.test.ts, packages/pi/test/diagnose.test.ts
Pi and OpenCode diagnosis supply live sidecar paths. Tests check orphan reporting and exclude live sidecars.

Read-only sidecar dump

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build bounded sidecar dumps
packages/pi/src/ui/sidecar-dump.ts, packages/opencode/src/sidecar-dump.ts, packages/pi/test/sidecar-dump.test.ts, packages/opencode/test/sidecar-dump.test.ts, docs/roadmap.md, .changeset/static-sidecar-dump.md
Both integrations add helpers that read sidecars in query-only mode, redact displayed text and metric values, and cap output at 16 KB. Missing, older-generation, and unreadable stores produce skip results.
Expose dump commands
packages/pi/src/ui/command.ts, packages/opencode/src/lifecycle.ts, packages/opencode/src/plugin.ts, packages/opencode/test/plugin.test.ts, packages/pi/README.md, packages/opencode/README.md, packages/pi/skills/pi-lossless/SKILL.md, packages/opencode/skills/opencode-lossless/SKILL.md
Pi adds /lcm dump; OpenCode registers lossless-dump. Commands display or save output, and docs describe their options.

Watermark-rescan signals

Layer / File(s) Summary
Record and display rescan signals
packages/core/src/metrics.ts, packages/core/src/report.ts, packages/pi/src/index.ts, packages/pi/test/hook-adapter.test.ts, docs/roadmap.md, .changeset/ingest-watermark-signal.md
Qualifying full rescans record the missing watermark and number of entries. Pi displays a warning when a UI is available. Tests cover the metric and silent handling of whitespace-only turns.

The byte-cap test never reaches clip.

The seeded store has no summaries and no sampleQuery. Only the metric rows can fill the dump. buildDump keeps the last 20 rows. Each row is about 470 bytes, so the dump is about 10 KB. That is below DUMP_MAX_BYTES (16,384). The test passes without running clip.

Make each metric row larger so the untruncated dump exceeds the cap. Also assert that the truncation marker is present.

Replace the hardcoded marker at line 103 with toolMarker. Keep withToolScope or remove it as a breaking API change.

withToolScope has no caller in non-test TypeScript. The tool-scoped search now runs through toolScopeMessageIds, so the doc comment on withToolScope describes a path that no longer exists. Deleting either helper is not a local cleanup. packages/core/src/index.ts re-exports ./recall-view.ts with export *, and packages/core/package.json publishes that index as the package entry, so both helpers are public exports.

The tool-marker check at line 103 repeats the literal `[tool:${want}]` instead of calling toolMarker. toolMarker(want) returns the same string, so this change keeps the behavior.

🔧 Suggested fix
-      row.text.toLowerCase().includes(`[tool:${want}]`) ||
+      row.text.toLowerCase().includes(toolMarker(want)) ||

For withToolScope, choose one of two paths. Keep it as a public helper and rewrite its doc comment to match current behavior. Or remove it, along with its assertions at packages/core/test/recall-upgrades.test.ts lines 398–399, as an intentional breaking change of the package API.

Add positive quoted-tool fixtures at both entrypoints.

seedTools() has no a"b tool, so the current assertions only exercise the empty-scope path. Add a real a"b tool row containing cache, then assert a positive hit from both grepView and searchSessions.

Keep the direct ftsPhrase and withToolScope assertions. grepView and searchSessions scope through toolScopeMessageIds and scopedGrepAll; they do not prove production use of withToolScope. The positive searchSessions assertion also prevents a caught scoped-search failure from being accepted as [].

DUMP_MAX_SUMMARY_CHARS consistently in its declaration and footer, and apply the
same change to the corresponding capSummaryText implementation.

Nitpick comments:
Review comments at @packages/core/src/recall-view.ts:
- Around line 55-75: Update the tool-marker check in toolScopeMessageIds to use
toolMarker(want) instead of repeating the marker literal, preserving the same
matching behavior. Keep withToolScope as a public export and revise its
documentation to describe its current behavior.

Review comments at @packages/core/test/recall-upgrades.test.ts:
- Around line 396-408: Update the quoted-tool test fixture around seedTools to
include a real tool named a"b with a message containing cache, then assert that
both grepView and searchSessions return a positive match for that tool. Keep the
existing ftsPhrase and withToolScope assertions.
