Measured on the live page: mean saturation 0.22 and luminance 75 on an 18-luma backdrop, at 51-63% of the first screen. Three changes: - Paper averages its spots, which drags a two-colour palette toward grey. Push the result away from its own luma (u_saturation) and lift opacity, lower intensity: 0.47-0.60 saturation at 61-64 luma, 49-62 distinct colours. - Height capped at 170px and the captions cut to one line: 22-29% of the screen. - The field leans toward a mouse pointer (u_pointer), eased in and back out; touch is ignored so the band never competes with scrolling. - Stills regenerated to match.

The band measured 0.22 mean saturation at 75 luma and took 51-63% of the first screen. This tunes it to 0.47-0.60 saturation at 61-64 luma, caps the height at 170px, shortens the captions, adds an eased pointer lean, and regenerates the noscript stills.
