[Feature]: Parents as actual parents #1061

Closed

Description

@MrTheoW

Feature Summary

As far as I know it's only possible to add children. But because parents do a lot of stuff around the house it would be nice to be able to show those parents on the dashboard so the kids can see how much the parents do in a week.
I have added myself and my wife as children and I need to approve for both of us which is kind of strange...

So I would like to see 2 types of users.
Child & Parent
Both viewable from the dashboard.

What problem does this solve?

Having to add parents as children to make the work they do visable to everyone

Thanks for this — it made total sense, and it's now built (#1066). It will be in the next release, v6.4.0.

    How it will work:

    • In the TaskMate admin panel, edit your profile (and your wife's) and turn on Adult profile.
    • Chores an adult marks as done count straight away. No more approving each other.
    • Cards that show the whole family (leaderboard, overview, points, weekly, graph and so on) leave adults out by default. Turn on Show adults in a card's editor (or set show_adults: true in YAML) and the adults appear after the kids, so the kids can see what you've been up to that week.
    • A card set to one person (child_id) still works for an adult, so you can each have your own card too.

Until v6.4.0 is out, the workaround is to turn off Requires approval on the chores only you two do.

    Thanks 👍🏻

The code is already there. It just needed some tweaks to allow parents.
