the import block of the internal/locate package so redact.Stringer,
redact.EpochNotMatch, and redact.RegionError resolve at all existing call sites.
Review comments at @util/redact/redact_test.go:
- Around line 14-38: Remove the entire
TestRedactKeyErrSharedLockLostAndLockUpgradeConflict test, including its setup
and assertions, because it references unavailable kvproto types and fields and
tests unsupported RedactKeyErrIfNecessary behavior. Keep the kvrpcpb import if
it remains used by TestRedactStringer.

The automated cherry-pick of tikv#2106 did not compile on this branch: - internal/locate/region_request.go calls redact.Stringer, redact.EpochNotMatch and redact.RegionError but never imported github.com/tikv/client-go/v2/util/redact, so the whole package failed to build with "undefined: redact". - util/redact/redact_test.go brought over TestRedactKeyErrSharedLockLostAndLockUpgradeConflict, which was actually added by tikv#2014 (txnkv: support shared lock upgrades) and is unrelated to tikv#2106. That PR is not backported to tidb-8.5 and the kvproto pinned here has no SharedLockLost / LockUpgradeConflict types, and RedactKeyErrIfNecessary does not redact those fields on this branch, so the test could not type-check. Add the missing import and drop the unrelated test. The remaining diff now matches upstream 56e5933 exactly. Validated with Go 1.25.14: - go build ./... - go test --tags=intest ./util/redact/ ./internal/locate/ - go test -race --tags=intest ./util/redact/ - golangci-lint v2.6 run ./... -> 0 issues Signed-off-by: lucasliang <nkcs_lykx@hotmail.com>

TestRedactStringeronly verifies the helper. It does not verify thatSendReqAsyncandSendReqCtxpassredact.Stringer(req.Req.(fmt.Stringer))to the"validate read ts failed for request"log. A future change to either caller could logreq.Reqand expose the request body while this test still passes. Add focused caller-level assertions for both paths.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

This is an automated cherry-pick of #2106
With log redaction enabled,
RPCContext.String()still prints raw region start/end keys in logs, request errors, and backoff warnings. Related region-error and read timestamp validation logs can also expose keys or request values.Add log-only redaction helpers for region metadata and errors, and redact full request bodies in read timestamp validation logs. The helpers preserve diagnostic region/store metadata and leave the original protobuf values intact. Regression tests cover enabled and marker modes, redaction-disabled behavior, and the region epoch warning path.
Compatibility: this changes logging behavior for TiKV and CSE callers without changing request routing, wire payloads, or existing client APIs used by TiDB, TiCDC, and BR.
Validation with Go 1.25.14:
go test -race --tags=intest ./util/redact ./internal/locate— passed, including the full locate suite.gofmt -lon all five touched Go files — clean.git diff --check upstream/master...HEAD— clean.Summary by CodeRabbit
