The newest version of pymupdf now shows this warning:
warning: The fitz API is deprecated and will be removed in future. Use import pymupdf instead.
More details are here https://pymupdf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/changes.html, but TLDR it started with v1.28.2 of pymupdf. Note that the name change came in version 1.24.3 (2024-05-09) but unless you painstakingly read the documentation for every update of every import, there's no way you could have seen that.
Presumably this could be lazily fixed with import pymupdf as fitz, although I confess I haven't checked to see if there were any API changes.
