Summary

The GNOME Shell extension declared shell-version: ["49"], so on GNOME Shell 50 it was marked OUT OF DATE and would not load. This adds "50" to the supported range so the extension loads on both 49 and 50.

Changes

  • extension/.../metadata.json — shell-version is now ["49", "50"].
  • README.md / INSTALL.md — updated the requirement lines from "GNOME Shell 49" to "49 or 50".

Notes

No code changes were needed. extension.js and prefs.js use only stable ESM-era APIs (PanelMenu.Button, PopupMenu.PopupImageMenuItem, St.*, Clutter.PropertyTransition, Adw.SpinRow/Gtk.ColorDialogButton), none of which were removed or changed in GNOME 50.

Verified locally on GNOME Shell 50.1 (Ubuntu 26.04): schema recompiles cleanly and the installed metadata validates. A shell reload (logout/login on Wayland) is required for the running session to pick up the new metadata and report the extension as active.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The extension declared shell-version ["49"] only, so GNOME Shell 50
marked it OUT OF DATE and refused to load it. Add "50" to the supported
range and update the README/INSTALL requirement lines to match.

No code changes needed: extension.js and prefs.js use only stable
ESM-era APIs unchanged in GNOME 50.
