Talkies advertises this computer so the Android companion can find it without manual host entry.
- **`talkies doctor`** checks audio, microphone, hotkey, typing, clipboard, tray and model, and

Ollama and LM Studio cleanup only accept `localhost`, `127.0.0.0/8` or `::1` endpoints. Remote
endpoints are rejected and HTTP redirects are disabled, so transcripts never leave the machine.

Besides the model downloads you ask for, the only network request Talkies makes is the update

Besides the model downloads you ask for, Talkies makes no outbound Internet requests except the

enabled, companion discovery is a local-network DNS-SD announcement only.

For Android companion discovery, install and run Avahi (`avahi-daemon` and
`avahi-publish-service`) and enable an SSH server on the desktop. Talkies publishes the SSH service
only while its daemon is running and only when `ss` reports a non-loopback SSH listener. It advertises
the service as `_ssh._tcp` with a `talkies=1` marker, allowing the Android companion to prefill the
host and port. The default SSH port is 22; set `TALKIES_SSH_PORT` in the Talkies daemon environment
when sshd listens on a different port. Discovery is optional and does not affect Talkies when Avahi,
`ss`, or SSH is unavailable.

Talkies also includes an Android remote companion for Linux development sessions. Add a host name,

Publish a per-machine service name instead of the fixed name Talkies.

Every Linux machine advertises the instance name Talkies. If two machines are on the same LAN, Avahi resolves the name conflict by renaming one of them, for example to Talkies #2. On Android, SshHostDiscovery uses info.serviceName as DiscoveredSshHost.name. NearbyHostCard shows that name, and toProfile stores it as the saved profile name. As a result, users see identical or numbered entries and cannot tell which machine is which. onServiceLost also matches on this name.

Put the machine hostname in the instance name, for example Talkies on <hostname>. Fall back to Talkies if the hostname cannot be read.

const service_name = (if (hostname.len > 0)

Check the gethostname API against the Zig master version pinned by CI.

Review comment at @linux/src/app/companion_discovery.zig at line 25:
Update the Avahi publish setup in the service-spawn function to advertise a
machine-specific instance name: read the hostname using the Zig version’s
supported gethostname API, build “Talkies on <hostname>” when non-empty, and
fall back to “Talkies” on failure or empty output. Manage the allocated service
name with the same ownership and defer pattern as port_text, and pass
service_name instead of the fixed literal in the avahi-publish-service
arguments.

Treat the whole 127.0.0.0/8 range and mapped loopback addresses as loopback.

This check excludes only 127.0.0.1 and ::1. A listener on another loopback address passes the check, for example 127.0.1.1:22 (the Debian/Ubuntu hostname mapping) or [::ffff:127.0.0.1]:22. The daemon then advertises an SSH endpoint that the phone cannot reach, and the Android connection attempt fails. The docs promise that Talkies advertises only when "ss reports a non-loopback SSH listener".

Update the loopback filtering check in the companion discovery
listener-processing logic to exclude all 127.0.0.0/8 addresses, IPv4-mapped
loopback addresses, and IPv6 loopback addresses, while handling any interface
scope suffix before classification. Add coverage for a listener on 127.0.1.1:22
