File Operations
CyberViewer handles the main file tasks around viewing images: opening files and folders, saving copies, using the clipboard, moving files to the Recycle Bin, printing, exporting PDFs, and opening a file's location.
Use the File menu or the following shortcuts:
| Action | Shortcut | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Open image | Ctrl+O |
Choose one supported image file. |
| Open folder | Ctrl+Shift+F |
Choose a folder and load its images in natural order. |
| Open containing folder | Ctrl+Shift+O |
Open the current image's location in Windows Explorer. |
| Paste image | Ctrl+V |
Load an image from the clipboard. |
You can also drag an image or folder into the viewer. Recently opened images and folders are available under File > Recent and File > Recent folders. Each list keeps up to 10 entries, and missing paths are removed when they are selected.
See Viewing for the complete list of supported formats and loading methods.
Rotation is initially a preview. When a rotation is pending:
- Use the floating Save button to write it to the current file.
- Press
Enterto save the pending rotation. - Press
Escapeor use Discard to restore the original orientation.
Saving a rotation renders the image at full resolution. If the rotated image came from the clipboard and has no disk path yet, CyberViewer creates a PNG under the default Pictures folder before saving.
Use File > Save As or Ctrl+S to save the current image to a new file. The dialog offers PNG, JPEG, and an all-files option. The default name uses the _copy suffix and the original file is preserved.
Crop, resize, and color adjustments also default to saving a new copy. Their options and suffixes are documented in Editing.
Use File > Copy image, the toolbar copy button, or Ctrl+C to place the current image on the clipboard as PNG data. A pending rotation is included in the copied view.
Use the top-level Paste image command or Ctrl+V to load an image from the clipboard. The pasted image starts a temporary one-image session. It receives a local path when an edit is saved, and it can also be exported or copied like any other loaded image.
For a disk-backed image, right-click the image and choose Copy image path. The same full path is available from the image's Properties panel.
Use the Delete key, the toolbar trash button, or the image context menu to move the current disk file to the Windows Recycle Bin. CyberViewer shows a confirmation dialog first.
This operation is recoverable through the Recycle Bin. A pasted image has no disk file to move, so deleting it only removes it from the temporary session.
Choose File > Open containing folder, use the toolbar Show button, or press Ctrl+Shift+O to open Windows Explorer at the current image. The action is available for images that have a disk path.
Choose File > Print, File > Export PDF, the toolbar printer button, or Ctrl+P. CyberViewer opens one shared preview where you can choose the output settings.
| Option | Choices |
|---|---|
| Page size | Fit to image, Letter, A4, Legal, or A3. |
| Orientation | Portrait or Landscape for named page sizes. |
| Margins | Top, bottom, left, and right values in centimeters. |
| Preview | One page with the image contained within the selected page area. |
Fit to image sizes the page to the image and disables orientation and margins. It does not split the image across multiple pages.
Use Print to send the result to the system print dialog. Use Save PDF to choose a PDF path and write the file directly.
From the File menu or the image context menu, choose Set as wallpaper and select a layout:
| Layout | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Fill | Fill the desktop while preserving the image proportions. |
| Fit | Show the whole image while preserving the image proportions. |
| Center | Keep the image at its native size and center it. |
| Span | Use the image across the desktop wallpaper area. |
This feature is available for disk-backed images on Windows.
The Windows installer registers CyberViewer as a viewer for these image extensions:
| Format | Extensions |
|---|---|
| JPEG |
.jpg, .jpeg
|
| PNG | .png |
| GIF | .gif |
| WebP | .webp |
| BMP | .bmp |
| TIFF |
.tiff, .tif
|
| Icon | .ico |
| AVIF | .avif |
Windows may still require you to choose CyberViewer in Settings > Apps > Default apps when changing the default viewer.
By default, CyberViewer uses a single application instance. Opening another image while it is already running forwards the request to the existing window.
Enable Settings > System > Multiple Instances to allow more than one CyberViewer window. The change applies after the next launch. Multiple-instance windows opened directly with a file are independent and do not use the resident tray behavior.
