Summary

  • Clear the existing visited-page set before explicit lookup exceptions, so an out-of-range PDPageTree.get() does not leave stale recursion state for the next lookup. This follows Tilman Hausherr's suggestion on PDFBOX-6286 and keeps the existing traversal structure.
  • Add an in-memory, one-page regression test for the failing sequence.

Jira: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PDFBOX-6286

Validation

  • TestPDPageTree: 8 tests passed using focused Maven resource, compile, and test goals on the revised head.
  • checkstyle:check passed for the reactor with tests skipped.
  • The standard Maven test lifecycle did not finish while fetching external fixtures. The full suite and stable branches were not tested.

Prepared with AI assistance.
