fix(cdp): cover every context, keep the pages on a clock that sleeps, say what was not reached (R5 wave 5a) - #110
Conversation
… and say what the session could not reach (R5 wave 5a) - R5-P20: a context past the 256 audit rows is shimmed like any other and counted in one pooled row, and chromium.contexts_pooled replaces chromium.context_ceiling_reached. Measured on Electron 44: 300 workers gave partial, contexts 256, exit 10 - now works, contexts 301. - R5-Z2, R5-Z3: the ids of detached targets are kept in a bounded list, and a session the attacher does not drive is resumed and detached. A by-name attach announced again is the same session, not a duplicate. - R5-P7, R5-WY9: the port file is polled every 10 ms and the browser endpoint is taken from it. A page whose scripts ran before the shim, or a worker not paused on start, is said (chromium.context_reached_running). - R5-F6: a Chromium session's clock runs on unbiased interrupt time, the pages are given it on their system clock and again when they drift past DRIFT_MS, and sleep is announced as in a native session. - R5-D6: attach failures count against the verdict and are named on stderr, the browser's product travels as session_verdict.browser and on a browser: line of the report. - R5-B7: embedded.variables_outlive_session when the channel was on and the application outlives the session. - R5-Z1: a launch that never saw the debugging port ends the job and reports the profile it left. - R5-P24: one unreadable socket table no longer ends engine discovery, and a process that refuses to be opened counts as running. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Compute drift for a pending rate change on the right segment.
pages_drift_ms multiplies the offset change by self.segment.mult. A scheduled rate change does not fold into segment until a later settle. After the scheduled instant passes, the pages run at scheduled.mult. The drift check then uses the old rate. Example: x1 with a pending x1000 change, followed by a 2 s sleep. The pages are 2,000,000 ms ahead, but the computed drift is 2,000 ms. A move from x1000 to x0 gives the opposite result: the clock reports a large drift for pages that are frozen. Pass now and use self.segment_at(now).mult.

Carry partial table failures into the session report.
If one address-family table remains unreadable, discovery continues with the other table. This code prints a diagnostic once, but it sends no notice that the session can retain. The report can therefore omit a reason that endpoints on the unreadable family were not reached. Send a partial-read notice and include that coverage limit in the session warnings or report. As per path instructions, "uncovered channels are listed, not omitted."

🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
attacher.move_clock in a resync does not count as a rate change, and it can run too often.
turn runs on every loop iteration. When the move_clock push is not answered, pushed_offset still updates, so no retry loop follows. That part is correct. A larger issue: now_epoch_ms() and axis.now() come from different bases. Normal clock discipline, such as NTP slewing, makes the offset change slowly. At x1,000,000 (MULTIPLIER_MAX), 1 ms of real offset change exceeds DRIFT_MS. The pages then get a re-anchor on almost every turn, and each re-anchor costs the pages a MOVE_WAIT_MS wait. Set the threshold in real ms, for example offset_delta.abs() > DRIFT_MS.max(…)/mult with a floor such as 50 ms of real offset. Then high multipliers do not cause a resync storm.

…the current rate, IPv4 required, a floor on resyncs - CodeQL alert 10 (rust/log-injection, a false positive of the class of 1 and 5): the generated models take every growth of a VecDeque for a log sink, and the attacher holds a socket. The detached target ids live in a ring over a Vec instead, with the same bound and a constant cost. - A target with an audit row of its own is never forgotten from the index map, so one that comes back after the ring turned is the same context and is not counted twice. - The pages' drift is taken at the rate the clock runs at now, a scheduled change already past included. - A resync needs a second of session time and 50 ms of real time both (resync_due, both paths). The two clocks are read in whole milliseconds, and at x10 000 one millisecond was a resync every turn. - A read without the IPv4 table, the one engines open their port on, counts as a failed read, so its loss reaches the report as embedded.discovery_unavailable again. IPv6 alone is said on stderr. - The listener test requires the IPv4 table before it trusts an absence, and the token guard of the refused-open test exists from the moment the thread impersonates. Three of the tests are helper processes, ten had entries already. Two entries found a test that did not prove what it says. A C# test of the calculator's zone line was red when run alone: it read the strings through an application only another test had started, and asks through the shared WPF host now. The test of the PE header reader never gave it a header without the PE signature, so a mutation dropping that check went unseen. It does now. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
R5 wave 5a - Chromium: coverage and clean-up
Design and decisions: R5 plan, section 4.9 (decisions R5-D5, R5-D8, R5-D42, R5-D43, R5-D44, R5-D45). The shim work (A10 first, then B8, P6, P5, P8, WY3, P19, P18) follows in wave 5b.
What changes
chromium.contexts_pooledreplaceschromium.context_ceiling_reached,context_countcounts every context, and pooled contexts no longer count against the verdict. The pool's counts leave the table when a context goes, so memory follows the live list.chromium.context_reached_runningin both the Chromium session and the embedded-engine path.HostAxis), the pages get the origin on their ownDate.now, and they are given the clock again when they drift pastDRIFT_MS(shared with the embedded path). Sleep is announced withhost_slept,session_verdict.host_slept_msandtime.host_slept, as in a native session.session_verdict.browsercarriesBrowser.getVersion's product, and the report has abrowser:line.embedded.variables_outlive_session.clean: true.Measured (bare Electron 44.7.2, the runtime only)
new Worker()one after anotherchromium.contexts_poolednew Worker()target idsA regression found on the way and guarded: once a duplicate session meant a detach, the browser's own announcement of a by-name attach made the core detach the page it covered (unit tests green, live session undetermined).
