| - **Resets**: RESET_STREAM and RESET_STREAM_AT mid-transfer. The reader | ||
| gets exactly the bytes up to the reliable size (none for RESET_STREAM), | ||
| then the reset code, and stream and connection credit come back. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Allow already-read bytes before plain resets
When a plain RESET_STREAM occurs mid-transfer after the receiver has consumed some data, those bytes cannot be retracted; the absent reliable size means that no additional prefix is guaranteed, not that the reader must have received zero bytes in total. The current invariant would therefore reject valid seeds based on packet and read scheduling. Track the prefix consumed before the reset for plain resets, while requiring an exact reliable prefix only for RESET_STREAM_AT.

Agreed. ec9de84 lets a plain RESET_STREAM end after any unmodified prefix, since bytes already read stay read, and requires at least the reliable size only for RESET_STREAM_AT.

| - **Datagrams** interleaved with streams: each arrives at most once and | ||
| unmodified, and datagrams never stall stream progress. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Require datagrams to arrive in lossless cases
The proposed invariant permits every datagram to disappear, because zero deliveries satisfy both “at most once” and “unmodified.” Consequently, a regression that drops all datagrams before transmission or reception would still pass all 64 cases while stream progress continues. Include lossless cases where every accepted datagram must arrive exactly once, while retaining the weaker invariant for cases with packet loss.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Agreed. 238c2f4 adds lossless cases, with buffers sized for the workload, where every datagram must arrive, so a regression that drops them all fails. The at-most-once, unmodified invariant still covers the lossy cases.

Gate crypto work on the fuzz target
Because Required gates starting, this quest can begin as soon as the benchmark lands, but the connection target it must switch is introduced separately by fuzz.md and does not currently exist under rs/moq-quic. Add the fuzzing quest as a prerequisite (or reverse the dependency and integrate the crypto there), otherwise this quest cannot complete within its stated scope when scheduled.

| - The `connection` target switches to it, so injected and mutated packets | ||

Exclude injected frames from the write-integrity oracle
When a mutated inbound packet happens to encode a valid STREAM frame, the new no-op AEAD will admit bytes that were not written through the connected Pair. The planned connection target in quest/m1/quic/coverage/fuzz.md still asserts that all delivered bytes match what was written, so such a valid fuzz input will be minimized as a regression even though the transport behaved correctly. Split raw-packet operations from that byte-integrity oracle, or account for successfully injected frames, before switching the target to this crypto.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Agreed. cf8b3cd scopes the delivered-bytes check to streams no injected frame touched, once injected packets decrypt; the no-panic check still covers every input.

| - A decrypted injected packet can carry a valid STREAM frame, so the | ||

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Exclude injected datagrams from the integrity oracle
When the no-op protection admits an injected packet containing a valid DATAGRAM frame, Event::DatagramReceived still passes its payload unconditionally to check_datagram (rs/moq-quic/src/fuzz/connection.rs:415-420,762-774), which requires the harness's eight-byte sequence number and a matching datagrams_sent entry. A valid short or unknown injected datagram therefore panics and is minimized as a false regression. Extend the accounting or exclusion to DATAGRAM frames, including corrupted queued datagrams, rather than only streams.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Agreed. 6dceb40 widens the exclusion to DATAGRAM frames and to corrupted as well as injected packets: both the stream-bytes check and check_datagram skip what those packets touch, and no-panic still covers every input.

| - **Migration**: NAT rebinding and active migration mid-workload. The | ||
| connection survives and every delivery invariant still holds. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Exempt migration-time datagrams from exact delivery
When migration changes an endpoint address while an accepted DATAGRAM is queued or in flight, Pair::drive_server discards packets whose destination is the old address (rs/moq-quic/src/tests/util.rs:177-200), and QUIC DATAGRAMs are unreliable and are not retransmitted. Thus even a lossless-link migration case can legitimately miss that datagram, while “every delivery invariant” applies the exact-delivery assertion from the previous bullet and turns a valid migration into a failing seed. Either quiesce datagrams before rebinding or exempt migration-transition datagrams from the exact-delivery oracle.

# Conflicts: # quest/m1/quic/coverage/README.md
Summary
Three follow-ups from the moq-quic regression-net epic (
quest/m1/quic/coverage/) and CI:fuzz-crypto.md[S]: a fuzz-only plaintext crypto session in the hiddenfuzzmodule, so theconnectiontarget (about 64 inputs/s today, almost all TLS) skips the handshake and its injected packets decrypt. The benchmarks reuse it instead of a bench-local copy. Once injected packets decrypt, the target's stream and datagram integrity checks exclude what injected or corrupted packets touch. Ready: the fuzzing (test(quic): fuzz moq-quic like moq-net #5779) and benchmark (bench(quic): Criterion sweeps of streams, receive, routing, and wire #5812) quests it waited on have landed.sim-workloads.md[M]: the seeded simulation's random workloads add resets (RESET_STREAM and RESET_STREAM_AT), stops, bidi streams, datagrams, and migration, each with its own invariant. A plain reset may end after any unmodified prefix; RESET_STREAM_AT guarantees at least the reliable size. STOP_SENDING is checked on the sender. Lossless cases must deliver every datagram. Ready: the seeded simulation it extends landed in test(quic): seeded, impaired simulation in Pair, BBR3 by default, and property tests #5780.quest/m1/test-flakes-2/relay-burst-impaired.md[S]: the moq-relay drillbursts_cross_a_transport_peer::impairedaborted its subscription with "internal error" on build(rs): addjust rs coverageand a nightly moq-quic report #5772's io_uring job and passed on rerun; reproduce and fix at the cause.Raised by #5779 (fuzz), #5780 (seeded simulation), and #5772's CI.
