feat(net)!: name request handlers requests() - #6752
Rename the request handlers for their role at every layer, per quest/m1/api-audit/requests.md: dynamic() / Dynamic become requests() / Requests, following the auth::Handle::requests() -> auth::Requests precedent.
moq-net:origin::Producer::requests(prefix), broadcast::Producer::requests(), track::Producer::requests(), and track::Request::requests() return origin::Requests, broadcast::Requests, and track::Requests. The crate-private dynamic_route is requests_route.
@moq/net:Origin.Producer.requests(prefix) returns Origin.Requests. The internal dynamicRoute is requestsRoute.
moq-ffi:requests() on MoqOriginProducer, MoqBroadcastProducer, MoqTrackProducer, and MoqTrackRequest returns MoqOriginRequests, MoqBroadcastRequests, or MoqTrackRequests. The Python, Swift, Kotlin, Go, and Dart wrappers follow (OriginRequests, BroadcastRequests, TrackRequests). Dart's generated bindings are regenerated, and since requests is not reserved, Dart drops the dynamic_ spelling.
MIGRATE entries for moq-net, @moq/net, moq-ffi, and each wrapper. Quests that named Dynamic (archive, subscribe ranges, unbounded groups, e2ee, net-wrap) now use the new names. This deletes the finished quest.
Choices made
The private coalescing queue model::Requests<K, V> is now RequestQueue (request_queue.rs), which frees the name.
update_route stays as it is: its name doesn't refer to the mechanism, and it already reads well on a Requests handle.
Local variables and fields called dynamic, and prose that says "dynamic handler" to describe the mechanism, are left alone to keep the diff focused on the API.
moq-c: the request-handler functions follow too: moq_origin_requests[_cancel], moq_publish_requests[_cancel], moq_publish_track_requests, and moq_track_request_requests. This changed from an earlier "frozen C ABI stays" choice after the maintainer's later decision that the hand-written moq-c ships at this cut with parity (comment).
Swift Dynamic.swift is now Requests.swift.
Historical MIGRATE and CHANGELOG entries keep the old names.
Note on the shape: track::Requests yields track::Fills. track::Request is what broadcast::Requests yields. The quest settled on this, but the two names sit close together.
Impact
Public API (breaking): moq-net, @moq/net, moq-ffi, and the Python, Swift, Kotlin, Go, and Dart wrappers. To migrate, rename dynamic() to requests() (Dynamic() to Requests() in Go, dynamic_() in Dart) and *Dynamic types to *Requests. Methods are unchanged.
moq-c ABI (breaking): moq_origin_dynamic, moq_origin_dynamic_cancel, moq_publish_dynamic, moq_publish_dynamic_cancel, moq_publish_track_dynamic, and moq_track_request_dynamic are renamed *_requests (moq_track_request_requests); arguments and callbacks are unchanged. See rs/moq-c/MIGRATE.md.
Wire: none.
Merging main
The latest merge takes moq-dev/moq#6751 (via its head, so main's squash replays nothing) and moq-dev/moq#6910, moq-dev/moq#6909, moq-dev/moq#6908, moq-dev/moq#6898, and moq-dev/moq#6905. Conflicts were confined to the Unreleased MIGRATE sections (moq-net, @moq/net, moq-ffi, moq-c, and each wrapper), which keep both sides' entries with this PR's on top; doc/lib/js/net.md, which takes #6751's finish() wording beside requests(prefix); and the api-audit README, which drops the finished net-names and requests quests. No code on main called dynamic(). The @moq/net API report and the Dart bindings regenerate unchanged. The net-wrap traits quest now names track::Requests and #6751's Resolving, answering CodeRabbit's finding.
Checks
just check (run sequentially): rs (8859 tests), py, kt, go, cpp, obs_compile, js (incl. @moq/net 2832 and @moq/watch 398), markdown, and gh all pass. swift was skipped because this host has no Swift toolchain. The flake module fails only in this sandbox (unshare: write failed /proc/self/uid_map while building the GitHub runner VM image), and the uniffi.toml comment edit is what pulled it in.
just dart check, with the regenerated bindings: pass.
quest check: pass. The drill mutations still apply (sensitivity.sh --apply-only, 7/7).
cargo doc -D warnings for moq-net, moq-ffi, moq-transcode, and moq-stats: pass.
After the latest merge of main: just check passes every lane it selects (py, rs, c, cpp, obs_compile, js, markdown, gh, kt, go, dart, quest, shell, toml, nix, and the rest; swift skips without a toolchain and flake without user namespaces), and so does just test interop --all.
transport::Metrics drops the byte counts transport::Wire already holds;
session::Stats reads them from the wire.

Rename the dynamic()/Dynamic request handlers to requests()/Requests on
origin, broadcast, and track producers (and track::Request) in moq-net,
@moq/net, moq-ffi, and every wrapper. The frozen moq-c ABI is unchanged.

writeGroup inserted a caller-built group; createGroup builds it, like Rust's
create_group and e2ee's createGroup. Sharing one group between tracks goes.

No actionable bugs found. Naming request-serving handles Requests makes their role clearer; the core changes preserve queue/lifetime behavior, propagate through callers and wrappers, and document the breaking API migration while retaining the C ABI. Renaming the private queue to RequestQueue avoids unnecessary ambiguity.
Verification: static review of core/API changes, affected callers, wrapper/generated-binding changes and migration notes. I did not run builds, binding generation, tests or interoperability checks.
finish() declares the end without closing, abort(err) is terminal, and
close() releases the handle like a Rust drop: clean with a declared end,
otherwise a Cancel abort. Producer.closed and Demand.closed now settle on
the outcome, including a reached and settled end; the wire layer watches
the release through private hooks.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nd()
Lister.ended is renamed closed. Group and broadcast Demand.unused now
reject once the handle closes, as Rust's do, instead of reading a closed
handle as unused. Subscriber.end() and Ordered.end() are removed: readers
await finished(); publishers read the snapshot through a private hook.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A consume() handle shares the producer's state, so its close() ended the
group for every reader. close() now takes no error and releases only this
handle: a shared handle ends its own reads, a mirror closes its own copy.
Wire and track fan-out fail a reader's copy through a private hook.

…fecycle
#6815's IETF range updates finish their group producers, finish tracks before closing them, and release an excluded group's reader through the private releaseGroupReader hook.

…n group below the end
A prune that evicts the open group holding the end back now re-checks the outcome, as the Rust poll_outcome does once the evicted slot leaves its lookup.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A received copy's tail grace is judged when polled, so a later subscription with a longer max delay could reopen an end closed() already reported, and an abort within it turned it into an error. poll_outcome now latches the clean outcome it returns, as JS does by settling before a subscription change.

Carry the renames into #6781 (simulcast rungs): MoqAllocator option types,
Reservation::rate()/consume(), moq_allocator_* in the C tests, and keep
both sides of the Unreleased MIGRATE entries. Rename main's new
track::Consumer::query() and JS writeGroup callers, and regenerate the Dart
bindings.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Keep both Unreleased MIGRATE entries, take finish()/abort() with createGroup(),
drop the shared-group and prefilled-group tests that createGroup rules out, and
carry group::Demand's new closed() docs beside wanted_changed().
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
#6834 replaced the per-token handles (MoqAuth, MoqAuthToken, and each
wrapper's Auth/AuthToken) with MoqSession.tokens()/grants(), so the
binding-level Credential rename and its MIGRATE entries go; moq-net's
auth::Auth is still renamed Credential, now including the session fields
#6834 added. Keep Allocator/BandwidthConsumer in the wrappers beside the new
GrantConsumer and Tokens, take #6834's binding docs and OBS token flow, and
regenerate the Dart bindings. #6750 merged as a squash, so its conflicts
resolve to the earlier merge of its head.
