Local validation is complete on clean source head MoQ's The source change is ready for review. MoQ's existing close-code quest remains open until a published release containing this commit is adopted and validated. Recommend a separate release-condition/pin-adoption quest, then a release backport for the interop fix. Public API and wire framing/codes remain unchanged. (Written by GPT-6) |

WalkthroughThe CONNECT close path now waits for the send stream’s stop result after finishing the close capsule. Tests add a gated UDP socket and verify capsule acknowledgment after the teardown grace period, as well as task release when the connection closes during the acknowledgment wait. 🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Bound the CONNECT acknowledgment wait.
If a peer withholds acknowledgment of the CONNECT DATA or FIN but keeps the QUIC connection active, send.stopped().await remains pending. The teardown grace never starts, and the spawned task retains the session and its HTTP/3 state. QUIC activity can keep the idle timer from ending this wait. Add a separate, longer acknowledgment deadline that closes the connection if delivery cannot be confirmed. (docs.rs)

Problem
A refused browser session can report
WebTransportError: Connection lost.instead of code 2,unauthorized. The close task starts its 100 ms teardown grace when the capsule is only queued, so packet loss or a stalled socket can make QUIC discard it before delivery.A Chromium reproduction gates server UDP writes at an auth refusal. Relay logs show the force-close with 23 packets dropped; Chromium netlog records the application CONNECTION_CLOSE and the page reports Connection lost without a local JavaScript close. The existing HTTP/3 stream-lifetime fix and MoQ's SETUP
sessionCausefix are present.Approach
Await the CONNECT stream's acknowledged DATA and FIN before starting the existing peer-teardown grace. A peer STOP or transport termination ends the wait; a cancellation regression verifies the close task releases its HTTP/3 state.
The socket-gated regression advances mocked time by one second and fails on the original implementation with
closed before the capsule was acknowledged. After release it requires the exact remote code 2 andunauthorizedreason. Both regressions run in the existing workspace CI suite.Impact
web-transport-moqis a MoQ-owned adapter absent from that upstream.Validation

Increasing the deadline cannot guarantee delivery. Retrying the test or accepting a connection error would hide loss of the authoritative refusal.
Follow-ups
Publish a release containing this fix, then adopt its compatible
web-transport-moqpin in moq-dev/moq and validate full cross-language interop. Keepquest/m1/test-flakes-2/interop-close-code.mduntil that published adoption passes. Recommend a release backport for the broken browser interop; no API change is needed. The upstreamweb-transportadapters should adopt the same delivery invariant separately.(Written by GPT-6)
